Frequently asked questions

Below are some frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your appointment and better understand our services.
How do I know if we are a good fit for psychotherapy?
During the clinical intake appointment, we will discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations for therapy. This session helps us determine if our approach aligns with your needs and ensures that you feel comfortable with the therapeutic process. It’s a collaborative opportunity to assess if we are a good fit to support your mental health journey.
What happens during the first therapy session?
The first therapy session is focused on getting to know you and your specific concerns. We will discuss your history, current challenges, and goals for therapy. This session helps us better understand your needs and create a tailored treatment plan moving forward.
How often will I need to attend therapy?
The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. For some, weekly sessions may be recommended, while others may benefit from bi-weekly or monthly appointments. We will discuss and decide together what schedule works best for you.
Can someone accompany me to my testing appointment?
Depending on the type of appointment, it can be beneficial to have someone attend the evaluation with you, such as a spouse or family member. If you choose to be accompanied, you can decide whether that person should participate in the clinical interview. While their participation is not required, it may provide valuable insight. However, cognitive testing and self-report measures will need to be completed alone.
How should I prepare for my testing appointment?
Please have your medical records and paperwork accessible, a list of current medications, your referral form (if applicable), and any necessary assistive devices like glasses or hearing aids. Additionally, have a valid form of ID (such as a Driver's License or state-issued ID) and your insurance card on hand. Ensure you are in a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection.
How long will the appointment last?
The length of your appointment depends on the type of service. Clinical intake, therapy, and feedback sessions typically last about one hour. However, testing and evaluations can range from four to eight hours, depending on the areas being evaluated.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we do accept insurance! For any specific questions regarding insurance coverage or billing details, please feel free to give us a call at (248) 325-8535 or email us at admin@corepathpsychology.com. We're happy to assist!
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and plans may need to change. To ensure we can offer the best care to all our clients, we kindly ask for at least 28 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This helps us accommodate others who may need care. Without sufficient notice, a fee may be applied.
